I used Java 6 and installed from the full redistributable (offline) installer. HERE is a link to the full offline copy of JRE 6 update 6. It's about a 15mb download.
You might try what I did and push your ramdisk up to 64mb using the utility in the control panel. I didn't have any issues ...

So how are you able to apply the vista patch to MJ if you have to have the MJ plugged in first, but the MJ won't stay on long enough for it to even load?
