I've tried getting it to reinstall using every connection I can think of. With the 3 inch cord, without it. Direct into the computer. Plugged into a powered hub.

You might also try not using the short cord that came with it, if you still are, and make sure it's in a rear usb port, if it's not.

Clicking on the 911 button doesn't send any message. It tells you whether or not they have validated your location correctly so you can get 911 service. If it's green you are okay, if not, it usually changes to green after a waiting period. To use 911 you still have to dial 911.

How can I tell what MJ version I have, to know if I need an upgrade?

MJ _always_ has to run twice to get going. That is, it never gets going on the first try. In between I get a dialog saying:

"The installer failed to exit a running instance. Please take a look at it. It may require your attention."
