I am new to Magic jack, and I did attempt to port my AT&T home phone to my Magic jack.
Because I turned the AT&T phone off before I tried to port the number, the porting failed and told me that I did not currently own the number, and the account associated with it was canceled.

CallerID Name is so-so with magicJack.
From my experience, it really depends on who the caller's service is. If it's another MJ user, as always, it'll say "unknown." Private numbers will say "Anonymous". In most other cases, it'll just say the number in both fields

If you absolutely need that number in use, along with the transferred one, you'd probably have to get an extra magicJack. One would run the transferred number, while the other one would run the original number. If you only want one MJ plugged up at a time, just set up call forwarding on one. I still ...
