Population within 5 miles

That is a tough one to answer, but my best guess is that I am close to 80,000 within a 5 mile radius. Melbourne is the nearest city, about 9 miles away and certainly has that kind of density.

Incoming calls problems

All I can do is add to the list of issues with some incoming calls. I have some where you can not hear the caller at all, but they can hear you. I also have ones where the call is disconnected at exactly 15 minutes and one second. All other incoming and outgoing calls are normal. And yes, each ...

Dropped incoming voice after exactly 15 minutes

For sure the MJ+ once plugged into the computer happily announced it was doing an update. And for good measure I did the power down/up routine for the modem, router and MJ+ too. As few of my calls run 15 minutes, it may take months to detect if it made any difference, but my initial test using ...

Dropped incoming voice after exactly 15 minutes

Actually I have done none of the above, and also haven't plugged the MJ+ into the computer for at least a year so it may not be up to date either. So in the spirit of shotgun hunting, I'll do all of those items and see if it makes any difference. Best I can say is that it is not the router settings ...

Dropped incoming voice after exactly 15 minutes

My old style MP+ has developed an interesting annoyance. At exactly 15 minutes to the second, it stops delivering the incoming voice, but the person on the other end stills hears the outgoing conversation. Being rather one sided, you soon figure out that half the conversation is missing. Hanging up ...

I'll give the very obvious answer, the MJ+ unit is bad. If you can't get it to work while hanging off of the computer, it doesn't leave much to the imagination.

choppy sound

The odds are it is low bandwidth internet or if you are plugged into your computer, it may be busy enough to not keep up. If you are doing lots of stuff on the internet at the same time you are making calls, a choppy sound could easily result.

I also experience this delay when first talking on the phone. You get no indication that a connection has occured and have to repeat Hello several times b4 the other party hears it. No cure that I have read about and I have played with the router settings a lot. I don't use the MJ+ connected through ...

I think the answer is that people who buy don't often research the issue in depth b4 they buy the thing. Then, they only encounter the truly wretched tech support when and if they have real trouble getting it to work. And they don't find THIS site until after the tech support failed to get it to ...

My cheap Uniden Dect6 accepts only the caller ID time, and that is set by MJ to be EST. At least it is right for about 1/2 the year for me in Florida. I did set the router time, but it had no effect on the phone time.

If you are using the old MJ instead of the newer MJ+, it must be connected to the computer to function. In that case, it will not appear in your router listing. Only the MJ+, connected directly to the router will then show in the router's device listing.

Can't disconnet

If you can, try using a headset or your computer mic and speakers. There is a possibility that the phone is what is not disconnecting (staying off hook to the MJ). But if it works completely properly on your computer, then it really has to be an issue with the router or the dongle power supply.

I successfully make MJ+ international calls while connected to my router. You probably have some blocked settings in the router. Doesn't leave too much to the imagination. If it works on your computer, but not on the router it really must be router settings conflicting with the MJ. You should consider looking on this BB for all the issues associated with router settings and give them all a go. Putting the thing into the DMZ ...

The short answer is yes, it happens to me also. Seems entirely random, some conversations go for a 1/2 hour with no problem, others you are talking to yourself after just a few minutes. Same solution, when you know you are talking to the air, hang up and redial. It has always worked as a solution ...

You probably have to set the correct time in the router. Mine has an automatic update feature so that I only had to check that option and it was correct from that point forward.

Good solution. I never fully eliminated this problem in my Dlink installation, but did confirm that the problem went away with a Belkin N150 router instead.
