I would simply change the power settings so that the PC doesn't sleep or hibernate. And return the new router.

I don't recall getting many calls from telemarketers with either my magicJack or my magicJack Plus.

Assuming you have good enough bandwidth through WiFi, you could also get a used or refurbished router with DD-WRT software flashed to it. Set it up as a Repeater Bridge (or Client Bridge). This will get you 3 additional Ethernet ports, which can be useful for other wired devices.

Since I am on Eastern Time, the time on my newer cordless phone is getting accurate time from MJ's Caller ID, now that we are no longer on Daylight Saving Time. I don't recall MJ's servers (for Caller ID time) properly changing to Daylight Saving Time.

I never found a way on my older cordless phone ...

Sounds like you are having the same problem as I had a few months ago with my original magicJack. Works dialing out with the dialpad, but not using a real telephone. I concluded that the RJ11/RJ12 portion got fried, because the problem started right after a very close lightning strike.

Have you tried a different telephone? I have one rather elderly wired telephone that does this on my magicJack Plus (sometimes). I normally just use it for its ringer, in case my cordless phones are elsewhere. I don't typically answer this phone.

You would have to unplug your IMAC from your modem, but it should work. Just plug it back in (and plug your MJ into your USB port) when you want to use both at the same time. I suspect you will soon grow tired of doing this...
