You could use a splitter backwards and have both lines service the same phone for inbound, but I have NO IDEA how an outbound call would work - when you pick up the handset, would you get dial tone from both services?

NT6k happy-camper

Just thought I'd mention I got a NetTalk 6000 and it has worked for me very well. They got the DTMF problem resolved about 3 or 4 days after I received my unit, they have activated voice mail, and on my Uverse set-up, I've not had a single port or connection loss issue.

The only thing I'm still ...

No help for MJ, but NT lets you manipulate it

I may be hanging up my MJ for the NetTalk 6000 for several reasons, but regarding this thread, now that NT has voicemail working, they also let you turn it on or off at the service point. Just sayin'..... MJ should be so kind.....

I'll post my experience in 7 - 10 days, assuming they deliver on time.... :D

I have a deal where I've been using MJ for a second line as I work from home, but my employer recently updated expectations and one is no un-authorized soft-phone on my work computer.... I *could* move MJ to my home ...

When on a call, the little gray buttons just above the red End and green Send buttons come alive with Mute and Hold. I don't think you can put a call on hold by hitting "Send" like "flash" on a traditional phone.

When I had my error, the Hold button was activated....

How can I disable Music on Hold?

Ok, so seems most people like the "Music on Hold feature, but it is particularly annoying in my case - is there a way to disable it?

Case in point, getting some of these 'random' occurrences of call being put randomly on hold. When that happened while I was on a conference call, we had to ...

I can't believe you got yours working. I wish I knew how you did it. There's no volume on mine. I can make calls and it will actually call the other person, but there is no volume what so ever on both ends of the phone.

Well, apart from un-doing a bunch of things I had tried previously, here is ...

Oh and also, the MJ is now detected in automatically in ubuntu 8.04, no need to install drivers. Yay!

Huh? I plug mine in and it opens a USB 'drive', does nothing with the 'virtual CD Rom' part, and MJ does NOT launch.... Can you share a few more details? Are you on a Ubu 8.04 workstation or ...

I'm a happy jack'er now!

It may not be the ideal solution for everyone, but for me it is spot-on! I got MJ to fill a gap need because I am temporarily working from home. Didn't want to get a second phone line because my next assignment may come any day and may be back in an office.

However, after trying numerous phones ...

a way to "stake" the volume setting?

Is there a way to make the volume setting stay through a re-boot? I have to jack my mic up to 100% even with this new fix to have a tolerable voice level, and I would like to have it stay where I set it, vs the "default" every time the machine reboots.

Thanks -

mohoelx,

For the Thin Clients my work around it TeamView a remote access client and thru it access the Softphone. It should work just as well with your server.

Once working, how to deal with touch-tone in automated sys?

Hi all -

Been following this thread and may do this someday, but currently no need as I have a "server" that is up 24x7 anyway, and have my MJ plugged into it, with a corded phone from it to my office desk. This may be a slight rabbit-trail but have y'all figured out how to deal with touch-tone ...

Any solution when softphone is downstairs?

Using the MJ on a 'server' computer (really the one I have my printers hooked up to) which stays up 24x7 in a closet in the basement. Using a corded phone on the main floor. So, using the softphone or keyboard is not an option.

This would be similar to folks using the HP Thin Client I would imagine ...

can you say Grand Central + MJ?

I think this is a winning combination. Use Grand Central as your 'published' number - also seems you'll have a better chance of getting a local. Then, you are in control. Computer off, computer crash, whatever.... just going to a friends house! You can have your GC "follow" or "find" you on ...

Hey all - been taking a look at VirtualBox to be able to run MJ while doing my real work in Linux (Ubuntu 7.10). I have VB installed, loaded XP Pro SP1, but do not see any way to tell it to use USB devices. None show up in the Device Manager, even though my USB mouse/keyboard are working fine ...

Hey tvland - how did you get USB ports in VirtualBox? I've loaded it up and installed XP, but when I plug in my MJ, it just pops open the file browser in Linux, and XP doesn't see anything.... Is it just the HP's that work?

This thread has clearly settled on a bias for HP T57xx TC's. Is this because they are the only ones that work or is it because it is the platform most plentiful that was first figured out?

Sounds like underwater after vacation

Hi. Was using MJ o.k. before I left for a short vacation. Used it with the same laptop from the hotel while gone, and it worked nicely. However, returned home, and all calls (in or out) today sound like I'm talking underwater. Did something happen over the weekend?

Using a wireless link to router ...
