Re: updater file itself is only a conduit for the firmware

greenman wrote: Just to be clear: are we talking about the file "magicJackSetup.exe" dated from October 2011?
Yes, to be exact:
magicJackSetup4252.exe

And I am still having flawless performance since down grading to the above file.

it's usually only coincidental

Hmmm, well it looks like we have a huge coincidence on our hands here then. All these different people, in different areas of the world, with different internet providers not having any dropped calls since we rolled back the firmware.

I love coincidences! :D :D ...

I have a hard time getting excited about this...

It seems that if we monkey with something, it will work for a little while, then it will screw up yet again.

Has anybody been running this setup for a month or longer yet?

mh1983 has been trouble free for a month using the Oct. firmware ...

How long have you been running this setup?

- -

Since May 21st, and no dropped calls. I talk to my girlfriend long distance every night for long periods of time. It works perfectly now with the Oct. firmware.

I'm curious to see how it will be running a week from now; and 2 weeks from now ...

I eventually started getting dropped calls too with my MJ plus. Me and other members had a hunch it was the latest firmware update that was done. We all rolled back to the October firmware, and have had no dropped calls since. Mine is working perfectly now.

I just finished another long distance, hour long call with no problems. This time it was an incoming call. I'm beginning to feel like this firmware downgrade is the ticket.

Still no dropped calls since I went backward to the October firmware. I had another extensive long distance call last night with no problems. No problems on the shorter calls either.

I have had two long calls (one from out of state) and haven't had any dropped calls. Time will tell though.

How exactly can you test out an older version? Won't it update as soon as you're connected to the internet??

My MJ plus is now 3 months old and it's working flawlessly. I'm also experiencing drop calls sometimes but the overall compliment is that, it's pretty good. In my own opinion, it depends on how you use your MJ and configuration of your system has something to do on it.

I'm having the same ...

Port forwarding question.

I have a Bec modem/router and I was going to open ports 5050/5070. Looking at my screenshot, do I need to put anything in the Internal IP address box? Also, under protocol, don't I just need to have UDP under that heading?

Also, is this a security risk opening these ports?
