Re: What's up with this MagicJack Plus 2014

I was told via chat that it addresses the dropped calls issue and that voice quality was improved among other things.

- Their having mentioned the dropped calls issue is interesting, this is the first I've heard that this version of the MJ+ addresses any such issue. If it does actually do that ...

Keep in mind that you must use the link in the email to get that $30 price. If you sign in to your account and order that way it's over $50 with tax or fees or some such.

Re: What's up with this MagicJack Plus 2014

Just got an email from Dan offering to off load his latest offering for 29.99 for the next 48 hours.

I don't see any radical improvement. Did I miss something? Should I buy one because I'm a sucker for stupid crap, and believe that one can't have enough phone numbers?

Thanks.

I thought I was getting an "extra" six months but here's what the FAQ says about it.

Please Note: If you transfer the time remaining on your current device to the NEW 2014 magicJack PLUS, you forfeit the FREE 6 months that are included with the NEW 2014 magicJack PLUS

Thanks but that appears to be for Windows only.

I'm looking for a solution on the Mac.

@k-king, I am using an MJ+ but this is about the annoying popups when using the software. I realize I could use without a computer but there are times when I prefer the software based solution.

so far, it seems to be working

mberlant,

While the suspect MJ+ was plugged into the wall I was able to conduct a call lasting 50 minutes or so with the MJ+ failing.

I then plugged it into the CyberPower UPS and had another meeting that lasted about that long, again without problems. I don't think it would have lasted that long ...

How does the MJ+ behave when it is powered directly from the wall and not via the UPS?

Home quality UPSes do not output a perfect sine wave, and this can wreak havoc with a switching power supply that is not engineered to handle input from a UPS.

If the MJ+es work well when plugged directly into ...

software popup

When using MJ with a computer and you make or receive a call the software pops up. But if you're using a phone to make or receive calls this is not needed or preferred.

There should be an option to disable such disruptive / annoying behavior. I think Windows users have a freeware program that will ...

One MJ+ works, One doesn't work well as stand alone or w/Mac

I bought two MJ+'s, one for personal use and one for business. I have to Macs, one for personal use and one for business.

One MJ+ seems to work great when plugged into a power outlet via an APC UPS. I run a cat5 cable directly to a 2Wire router. No problems with that one. There's a yellow light ...
