I do indeed have that value set.

But a couple of issues:
1) the system (pap2) still says that I am on-line
2) I can still make calls
3) it NEVER seems to answer them

And

I searched for "pap2" and "register expires" here and can not find the discussion you are talking about

Problem with PAP2

I am a happy MJ user.

My MJ works very well when I connect it to my laptop under windows.

It also works very well with the Ekiga softphone when I use Ubuntu, so you know what that means. The problem that I am having is that it does not see incoming calls when I set my Linksys PAP2 to be what I ...

Can't get the info

When I run the "Get Current Sip Info" it stops and starts the magicjack a couple of time and then says that it is searching for the data. Eventually it gives me the message:

No SIP Data Found. Please try again

I try again and the same happens. What am I missing here.

BTW, There were two changes I ...

The files are indeed hugs

However, diff does all the work and there are very few changes under XP.

Under vista it is a problem because of course Vista is much more secure and does its random placement of code in memory

An easy way to find it in the dump

If you have two magicJacks then it is easy to dump the memory dump for each. Just compare them and you will find VERY few changes. The phone number and the credentials are of course different

Isn't it worth and extra $20

can I call to and from sip: numbers

Since MJ is sip and appears to operate using standard sip protocols is there a way in which others can call me by sip, something like:
sip:[email protected], or whatever?

If not, why not?

And the converse question, can I use magicJack, if for example I was using their proxy ...

Re: dial is very slow

I recently got my first MJ and it is working VERY well. I like it. The one thing that is a little annoying is that when I dial a number, either from the attached phone, or their softphone it seems to dial it VERY slowly. Looks like 2 seconds per digit.

For example, I can dial the ten digit number ...

I would suspect that the problem is actually not a MJ problem but that your phone company has not yet added the a new prefix to their switch. The phone companies are bringing new prefixes on so fast right now that many switches have a lag. The prefix is the second three digits, eg AAA-PPP-NNNN where ...

The grand central issue is not quite that simple

From time to time the "invite" button appears. I can not explain when, how, etc. I suspect it happens in certain area codes for a short period. As soon as I see it I send an invite to myself at a "spare" eMail address and then subscribe. I have used this to get numbers all over the country which is ...

This is an academic rather than a practical followup:

Why won't a packet sniffer work? Surely the MJ is needing to send the SIP info out and surely that can be sniffed. What am I missing here?

Please explain how you are connecting right now. I suspect that you will be looking for slightly more than just porting that.

was 7 digits now 10 for local calls

I use magic jack service through a PAP2 connecting to their proxy1.denver.talk4free.com. Until sometime mid morning today I made local calls by dialing the appropriate 7-digit number. I am in a part of the country where that's what we do. Not long ago I tried a call in my phone's speed dial and got ...

it was the port number

I had not put the :5070 on the end of the proxy1.... - I had put it there as the sip port and that's what confused me - so thanks.

caller id test

don't use the telco 800 numbers such as suggested here. They use the ANI not the CID number

making it work with pap2

I have my credentials, I know my pap2T works well since line2 is operational and works well with sipphone.

What do I need as my settings for line1 to use my MagicJack account.

I have my:

ProxyUserPassword=BXK1Z468228WWCV7CNAG

I have confirmed what I previously said but here is the GOOD update:

if I do *679*703081111 with the perl script running then I get "restricted" on a cricket phone
if I do *829*703081111 with the perl script running then I do get the spoof

Would really appreciate it if someone would confirm this ...

spoof failing

I suspect that the reason that the spoof is failing is more to do with the number that you are calling. For me, with spofer in place I get spoofed when I call MOST numbers but if I call a Cricket phone the real number shows up. I suspect that somehow Cricket uses the ANI and not the CID. I suspect ...

I downloaded the perl script and installed it, and tested and it appeared not to be working, when I called my cell phone. I looked carefully and all seemed good in the code. I even checked that the script was running on my machine, and it was. Then for reasons that make no sense to me, I decided to ...
