Looks like the setup on the Net Talk porting page is set up for porting from specific providers, but Google Voice isn't among those listed. Google Voice is a pain in the ass to use with the Net Talk Duo, so I'd rather port the number completely over and be done with the hassle.

These fliers apparently have the automated phone number that we have all seen before, but there's no pricing included in the ad at all ...

I never had a local number with Magic Jack anyway. Can't believe they couldn't even get that fixed in the 4 years that I subscribed. All my calls were routed through Google Voice anyway (or originally Grand Central, before Google swallowed them up) So no loss there.

Well, I finally "pulled the trigger" last night and ordered a Duo, so I guess I'm no longer waiting for Dan to get his shit together. Wouldn't surprise me if MagicJack buys out NetTalk somewhere down the road and I end up being a subscriber again anyway.

Well, the device was already $10 more than the original, which actually was reasonable given the improved functionality. So that's an extra $10 up front from every unit sold, plus another $10/year on renewals. I imagine the 5 year plan will go up by $10 as well just to be consistent.

Now it's going to be $29.95 a year to renew the MagicJack? Still a releative bargain compared to most other options, but now he's really leaving no incentive to go with Magic Jack over the NetTalk Duo.

Whistle is fine for outgoing calls, but there's no way to get incoming calls. Better go with Sipgate for that.
