I recommend Wrt54g or GL hands down no matter what. If you want to run it on stock I think it runs excellent or like AZ was saying you can go with an open source software like dd-wrt or tomato with them. I would stay away from netgears lower end models and all your unbranded ones. Your issue could ...

Well I tried it on an MS employees computer (my cousin) and it didn't work right.... The drivers weren't installing and some crap failed... it was a few weeks ago so i forget the exact error it was giving... but it didn't work...

Ah hmm... I got rid of my v3 a few years ago before I got FIOS not knowing they were gold.. then last year I got a new one. Now its a v8 **kicks himself** They suck compared to the good old v3s and below...

Yes, but to add on for me there is a bug so I can change my number when ever I want for free. I have changed it 3 times since they have said it costs 10 bucks to change it after the first time and they never did anything. It says 0.00 all the time....

thanks to all the information I was able to get my sip settings from the dump, I even get a dialtone and the status in sip menu shows that the device is registered phone1 light is on too, but when I dial a number all i get after some time is busy tone.

The only thing that pisses me off is the reply from "richard" instead of dan. If I wanted to talk to someone beside the owner then I wouldn't email the owner. Looks cool, but a hefty 50 bucks for the dang thing! I would rather go to the the dollar store and grab a 100 foot wire and run it along the site of the carpet.. but if your going up/down floors then this seems to be the best....

In addition.. outbound proxy and proxy should be set to 71.5.113.6:5070 . That site magicjackhacks is sorta annoying because its locking up my core 2 computer with 4gb of ram (not the program, but the site) and everything works fine when i close the site. But, that tool still works....

I run MJ on Handytone 502. Ever since MJ changed the password, I keep running into problems. The status page shows me as registered, but I am unable to recieve calls. Or if I reboot the router, I might recieve a call, but the calling person cannot hear me, however they can hear the touch-tones ...

If you are getting an error with grep... I recommend you stick to the original dump way plain and simple. As soon as the magicjack is loading.. dump it... open the dump... and search for teh password!

Well, there have been a lot of changes with the software of the magicjack (little changes in looks, but real big changes in the backend [sip people know what i mean :P] ) There is most likely going to be a way for you to use it for 2000, but I do not yet. Why are you running 2000 though?

Yeah. Teamviewer will do the job. You will need to do exactly what you said. But, since this is a somewhat permanent set up.. I recommend using logmein (logmein.com. It works better when you need to use it frequently IMO and its free, so you may want to try that.

I am guessing you need to set up a dial plan in ekiga. I used it before and didn't like it.. Try "twinkle" which works much better IMO.

I use my MJ to call from near Seattle, to Manchester UK for 2 cents a minute (Thats to a land line phone)

The call quality is better than some of the land lines I have used, and thats on a MJ connected via wifi to a router 600' away. (I steal wifi; my 17" Laptop can pick up wifi, but not my 12 ...

Robatino is correct.. However, you can run your magic through Virtual machine in linux. That works fine as long as your computer isn't total crap...

Yeah I agree... Tomato is much more easier to use, but DD-WRT is expandable... I would only get a new router if you were having issues with your old one with the MJ though...
