After installing Win 7 - Magic Jack was "awful". I have been a MagicJack supporter for some time. Great deal of echo.
Here's what I did.
1. Right Click on Sound/Volume Icon at bottom of screen (right side)

You can download a free copy of Sleep 2.0 which will enable your computer to "sleep". It is open source software available through sourceforge.net among other places.

Yesterday, I installed a capture card to my desktop so that I can watch television (cable) on my computer flatscreen monitor. Had some concern about computer resources but I am happy to say that it hasn't really effected Magic Jack performance at all.

I tried both of the tips I have found on the forum 1) turned the volume down to zero and 2) installed TJEC but one person I talk to insists that he hears an echo on his end. He is not using MJ but Verizon. Any suggestions?

I have had MJ now for at least three months. No complaints - works great. Still have ViaTalk - got it after SunRocket went down the tubes - will keep it until the contract runs out and then it is me and MJ.

It doesn't work on my MJ phone. Other VOIPs do work this way VIA TALK, for instance works.

I am just guessing but if your area code shows and city doesn't - lots of luck. Check with MJ customer support and see if someone there can tell you - but, then again, lots of luck.

I have no idea what "error 3" message is but I got it several times when I tried the initial install of MJ. When the install did not work - I download the "upgrade". That worked and the error 3 message disappeared. I suspect that maybe a firewall may be a hindrance too - wouldn't bet on it - but ...
