Yes, you can just browse the area codes and prefix list; provided that you click the cancel button at the bottom of the screen, it does not charge you. I do this occasionally from the my.magicjack.com site just to see what's new and have never been charged.

This looks like a veiled advertisement. Personally, if I wanted to spend $100+ on a voip system, I'd just buy an Ooma, as the hub/scout combo has dropped to about $180.

Unfortunately ALL Washington State numbers are taken; I bought mine in June '08 when the 253 prefix was newly added, but they've oversold the device without enough assignable numbers.

I'm sorry to hear about your problem, but it's not the seller's fault your dongle died. Paypal will not do anything since the item was delivered successfully. I'm not being an apologist, but that really isn't the correct route to go.

Another resource to test incoming fax is HP's free faxback service. You don't need an HP machine to use it-I tested my new Canon AIO printer via MJ and it works fine at 14.4k

I just tested this and confirmed there is now a 30 minute limit on calls. I can live with the limitation, but feel that this will draw a lot of ire from users, many of whom are already annoyed with their ambiguous policies.

After comparing my own to the closeup, it actually is the same.. because of the shot angle the white chip above the J looks more silver. The 2nd version supposedly fixed the echo problem with the old units and possibly more.

I also had that problem, but I didn't have to completely uninstall Nero to get the MJ to work, I found that using one of the burning programs interfered with the virtual drives MJ creates when running.

The MJ is not designed for that purpose or for faxing, although some people have gotten faxes to work. If you're running a business, I would not suggest using a MJ-it's simply not reliable or consistent enough.

Ok, thanks for the info. You'd have to talking on the phone for at least 1.5 hours per day, every day to go over 2500 minutes in a month. I don't use my MJ nearly that much, so this won't affect me, hopefully..

This should be a word to the wise! The 5 year plan is a joke; the service simply isn't expensive enough to bother with it. Considering that MJ may not be around in 5 years, it's best just to pay year to year and see what happens.

You're better off buying the MJ from QVC.com; it's not only cheaper, but if it doesn't work at least you can talk to a rep when sending it back. I like the MJ but not their sleazy sales tactics.
