I've never seen passwords for OTHER web services in dumpfiles before. MJ and pmdump are the only user processes that i ran... The PW's aren't in any cookies that I've found.

The reason why Dan wants to kill the ATAs is the server load IMHO. Not everyone runs MJ 24/7 with the dongle. But people who uses ATA runs it 24/7, which means increasing load on their servers. Just my 2 cents.

Interesting... Based on the varying experiences of others, I'd agree that there is something other than just sip auth going on. I have devised a way to test it, just haven't had the time. Hopefully tomorrow.

What if they are filtering the vendor code portion of the MAC address? then they could block everyone using ATAs... Does anyone out there have an ATA that allows you to input a different MAC address???... or have a way to spoof the existing one with another??

Don't think it would help. Most of us had to do the update as we couldn't get service using our BYODs without it anyway.

Unfortunately, most of the current tools use to get credentials require the dongle to be plugged in therefore initiatiny the update. I am wondering ...

You make a good point j1sjeep. I am trying to connect to proxy01.chicago.talk4free.com:5070, but no go on my RTP300. If I remember right, I used to connect to proxy.chicago.talk4free.com:5070 before the update.

I will also be trying to pull some wireshark info from both my router and the magicjack ...

i also used the stroth tools 1.6 and got a new pwd and a new user agent string ... so now mine works outgoing ... for incoming i just enabled call fwd to my cell phone thru MJ ... so in essence for me its working in and out ...

all my settings are exactly the same as kumar's except my dialplan is ...

BTW. I have three mj´s. two newer ones and an old red one. The newer ones didn´t work at all on my mac after that change. The older one did. Strange.

No problem, its just a password change, I put my jack in and pulled the sip credentials and compared them to the old one and the password is the only difference, I entered the new password in the pap2 and it logged on immediately now all is well again :lol:

I saw this same answer in a thread here a few weeks ago... But I can't find it, must have been a highjacked thread. Basically, dialing * (or anything for that matter) after dialing 10 digits doesn't work. Any pointers to a solution or thread?

Silly question. With my ATA up and running, can I use a SIP client on my machine as well? Will this "get me noticed" ? Would it ring both clients? I know how CallManager handles this, how about Asterisk,gimme the gory details???
