Has anyone tried this? If so, did it completely remove the MJ program and registry entries?

I just used it as I haven't used my Magicjack in over a year.

Conclusion: All calls from the PSTN to numbers served by MJ's Chicago POP site fail with dead air.

Well I just tested mine to try and help you out.

It appeared at first to not be working like you said. I left a voicemail and waited 10 minutes and it didn't light up. It DID just now light up after I did Menu --> Advanced users --> Restart.

No it should light up AND send you an e-mail.

They may be working on voicemail or something maybe wait 24 hours and try again. Leave yourself a voicemail and leave it be for say 30 minutes. Still no vmail button lit up?

If you use the softphone, the VMail button lights up when you have messages.

Others have reported that certain phones also work with lighting up when voicemail arrives.

You can check it of course by dialing your own MagicJack phone number. Press * then your password (default 1234).

If they didn't some of us early birds may end up having to buy hardware version two to keep up with all the good stuff.

This was one of my concerns when I bought my MagicJack back in December. I sort of expect to see a hardware version 2 at some point. Nothing to base it on besides my bad luck ...

There is no way to do it now except tear it down bit by bit. There are other threads on this board that detail how to do this on your own. MagicJack has not provided a way.

Like everything else, Dan says that a way to uninstall is on the to do list.

Interesting... I ran magicfix to see what it had to say... it is stuck on "checking environment" for whatever the check is between "You do not have any programs running known to be incompatible with magicJack" and "Audio is propertly configured ...

I rebooted yesterday and noticed my softphone said the 911 was "not connected, service not available" or something to that effect. I had no green, yellow or red.

The only thing I'd done since the last reboot was install Spybot Search & Destroy.

Uninstalled Spybot, rebooted and my 911 was green ...

My USB fit was very tight when I installed mine. I mentioned it in a post here at the time. I didn't think it was going to work. Keep trying. Look at it though and make sure its not damaged first like Stewart suggested.

MagicJack has FIXED the issue of not telling the caller when a voicemail being left gets cut off. It now says "Thank you, Goodbye" to you.

The bad news is they've reduced the time you can leave a voicemail. The first attempt was 1 minute 20 ...

I don't know what the upgrade does but I also got it after rebooting. Thanks for the heads up. Pray that it fixes a bunch of stuff.

Still think I'll hang on awhile before buying more years of service, but nice to see the option is there now when you log in.

Yes you can make calls from a cordless (or corded) phone. That is what I do. The software does pop-up every time you make/receive a call. I really don't find it that annoying. Worth the money saved.

There is an option to choose a big or small softphone on your screen.

From the time I plug my MagicJack into the USB port it takes about 50 seconds before I can make a call. As little as 23 seconds when restarting from the softphone (Menu --> Advanced users --> Restart).

The minimizing issue --> not normal.

MagicJack started showing signs of improvement with voicemail just last week. I assumed the issues you raised were taken care of since user SpamBox reported his phone was working with these features.
