Sorry if I was unclear. My concern is not with MJ at all, but I am concerned about Flashphone . If you click on the link you'll probably be alerted to a problem with their security certificate. Can I trust them with my mj account info?

They created their own SSL certificate - they did not ...

Re: Called party can't hear me

I can hear the called party but they can't hear me. Any suggestions?

Sounds like an issue with your upstream bandwidth - can you run a speed test? I've experienced the same when traveling overseas at hotels with SLOW upstream Internet connections.

I'm sure some real experts will chime in with ...

Re: whole house MagicJack _AND_ keep POTS service?

These are all good solutions but I'm hoping for something a little more seamless. Something where I could plug in POTS service and Magic Jack and be able to select MagicJack by pressing '*' on the phone or something along those lines.

I've seen something like it somewhere, I just cant remember ...

I believe you will have to purchase some credits first before you could even make some free calls. I don't like giving out my credit card info to them just to make some free calls. Their idea is: just in case you run over the free minutes they could start charging you right way (deducting your ...

Free SIP calling

Not really MagicJack related but I figured I'd tap into the VOIP knowledge here, LOL.

A little background:

I purchased two MJ's a few months ago. One was for myself for use with LONG teleconference calls. Unfourtunately MJ doesn't work with AT&T teleconference services (at least not at this point ...

I have a similar issue with AT&T teleconference services @ 866-285-7778. With my cell or a land line the automated system connects after 1-2 rings and then prompts for the teleconference number. With the magicjack is rings and rings and then finally the AT&T teleconference operator will pick up.

I ...

Sounds like you had low speed in Manila, and as might be expected a super speed linkup in Japan.

Definitely a slow connection in Manila - I did try from the office of our vendor but they were blocking the necessary ports (MJ kept telling me I needed to connect to the Internet).

The downstream ...

Re: Traveling With Magic Jack

I tried to use my MJ from the Madarin Oriental Hotel in Manila, Philippines but to no avail.

I could hear the other end fine but they said my conversation was garbled. I assume this was due to not enough upstream bandwidth.

I stopped in Tokyo on my return to the US and the MJ worked PERFECTLY from ...

Which device?

I'm thinking of getting a VOIP device to replace the MJ USB for my mother - she only makes outgoing calls a few times per month and it would greatly simplify things for her (and thereby for ME!) if she didn't need to plug/unplug the MJ when she needed to make a call.

I was looking for "unlocked ...
