Short of covering the darn thing in duct tape is there any way to shut off the glowing light.
Why?
Blue is the most difficult color to have glowing in the corner of the room when you're trying to sleep! For various reasons I've had to attach the MJ to a machine that's in a room where any light shines into the bedroom. We've eliminated most lights (some such as the orange of the HP when it's sleeping don't bug us but the blue ones on the MJ, the Dell and the old Compaq have proven to be a pain). On the PCs tape/pen has done the trick but I wanted to see if there was a less 'lo-tek' solution before covering the MJ in the stuff Wink

You can either cover it with a rag, plug it into a USB on the back of the computer, or color it. Those would be my suggestions. If you think blue is bad, try hot pink!

you don't want to remove the blue LED status light. Just turn the LED side away so you don't have to see it Laughing

In this case, use the "duct tape fixes all" method Laughing Laughing

offbeatmammal,

Go to a Car Window tinting place and pickup a piece of extra dark scrap.

i find that a "post-it" note does the trick ... may fall off once in a while but it's as good as putting another one on. Maybe there is a registry key to also turn this off ... hmm worth investigating.

Vulture1340,

You must hang out over at DSLreports, there is a guy over there in the VOIP section whose main concern is violating the TOS, to the point I have to bight my lip not to tell him to go soak his head.

Every post about doing something to the MagicJack that is his response, People that play with this kind of stuff are Geek/Hackers at heart and violating TOS is the least of their concerns. and most of us would just buy another unit if they ever closed ours out. Hell I would pay $39 dollars to watch a monkey fondle a football (somewhat a a paraphrase on the foot ball thing but while this does not seem to be a family forum I thought I would keep it "Socially acceptable).

Glad to see someone else finds it humorous. Laughing

I assumed even wanting to turn off the flashing lights (or block the adverts in the softphone) was a violation of something.... ToS if not the hardware itself Wink

Y'all be careful out there...the MJ thought police are reading your mind thru the MJ appliance. I have wrapped mine in aluminum foil which both fixes the blue light problem and defeats their ability to read my thoughts...gotta go, the dog is telling me to go clean my guns...

"I just ignore the telepaths now (except for my dog). For years I mistakingly thought the worst thing you can do is block them and piss them off. When it gets to be too much, I put my fingers in my ears and sing, 'FLINTSTONES, MEET THE FLINTSTONES.'" Seems to work for me!
