In transferring old landline number, it stipulates number has to be active with old service provider, AT&T ! How do I know if it is considered active?
I canceled service couple years ago. When I entered the number, they said they could transfer it, but next page, threw in the stipulation. I don't want to pay 19.95 if they find out they can't transfer it. HELP !!

If you cancelled your service with ATT there is no way you can port their number.
Lucky you, considered what kind of "quality provider" MJ is.

If you dropped the number a couple years ago, isn't it likely that the number has been reassigned? Have you tried calling your old number? If someone answers, there's no chance that you can get back that number.

If you call that number and you hear "that number is not in service", you could always try getting more minutes for the phone, if you still have it. Minimum buy-in is $15 worth of minutes with a new go-phone contract. Is it worth it to you to re-enable the phone and see whether that number is still attached to that cell, just to forward it to magicJack where they'll charge you $20 the first year and $10 every year thereafter for the privilege of having a number you haven't used in 2 years?

The thing is, if you haven't been using the phone for two years and nobody associates you with that phone number anymore, why just drop it and get an assigned number from magicJack for free? Why not start with a clean slate?

EDIT: Oops: I realize now you had a landline. I think you can kiss that number good bye. The same concerns still stand though.
