Anyone know if this will work with MJ? They are $15 on buy.com right now.

It looks like a functional replacement for the audio processing half of the MJ dongle. It should have no problem working with MJ.

By replacing your MJ dongle with this device you will lose the automatic updating, etc. You will still need to have it connected to an always-on computer running the MJ softphone or a compatible softphone.

You might gain the ability to ring more telephones, although chances are 50/50 that there is nothing more in this device than the same TigerJet chip set that is already inside your MJ.

Even if the hardware is identical to the audio processing half of the MJ dongle, you stand to gain some flexibility. This device (or any other USB-to-RJ11 device), when integrated with a good softphone (like X-Lite v.2) will allow you to use the same telephone instrument with multiple VoIP services.

mberlant,
would the approach to using MJ with X-lite be similar to the steps you posted in http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/call-transfer-t5026.html ?

I've played a bit with the x-lite to verify my SIP credentials at least on out dial to distant Time/Temp phones. I just need to have that mechanical connection with a handset.

Thanks for all your informative posts. I'm wading through O'Riley's on line Asterisk text. Pretty neat stuff. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

It should work just as tariqq reports in the other thread. I haven't used X-Lite in this fashion for about 5 years now -- since I moved from separate clients to Asterisk.

Now, when I use the TigerJet dongle it is just with TigerJet's minimal SIP client, which works fine as an Asterisk extension (no pop-ups, no screen at all).
