Hi:
I am new to this forum and have had my magicjack for several months now. I had the problem of my contact list disappearing a few weeks ago so I upgraded my magic jack from an upgrade on their website.
I am wondering how do you know if you have the latest upgrade or update.
I just noticed this on their web page and it is called an update
http://www.magicjack.com/8/customerCare_windows7.asp
It is a much smaller file than the upgrade that I installed August 20. Is this something I should install?
Then I noticed this upgrade. I can't get a direct link for it. You have to search for upgrade in the faq.

This is a different size than the upgrade I downloaded on August 20. Is this a new upgrade? There are no version numbers that I can see and the date says January 8, 2010.
Thanks for your help. I appreciate this forum very much. Is it possible to have a sticky with all updates and upgrades? Or did I miss one. Thanks, Kent |

Hi Kent10 - You don't need to worry about getting new upgrades, since MJ downloads them automatically in the "dead of night", it seems. They make sure no one is missed, although it can take a couple of days or so for it to get to everybody.
If you have problems with the latest upgrade and someone here suggests you might want to download it manually to fix the problem, then you can go ahead and do that. There are very few of us who look forward to these updates, since they tend to mess things up for a while. The one a few weeks ago was a doozy. |

Thanks for this information, Tom. Are there cases when an upgrade might not be done automatically or was it just a coincidence that I happened to download the upgrade just before it would have been done automatically. Maybe when I lost my contacts that was a result of a failed upgrade attempt? So I guess there is no way of knowing when an upgrade was done unless there is a major change to the soft phone and then it is obvious. There are no version numbers? Thanks again for your help. Kent
Edit: I just manually upgraded to version 2.03 and I see where that is listed in the menu near the bottom. |
