Very unusual ringing tone for Cells

Post by JoelIrwin »

Anyone else notice that in the last few days - definately in the last week, when you call a Cell phone number (in the US), instead of the normal long constant ringing tone, you now get very short tones that come 'close' to sounding like a busy signal but it is really ringing the other phone (I have had people answer and have got voice mails so I know its ringing). The first few times it happened, I thought it was not ringing because I did not recognize the tones. It does not seem to happen for non-cell phones.

Is this a problem or has MJ decided to change the ringing tones for cells?

Joel

Just tried it on my personal cell phone (MJ => Verizon) and got the traditional "ring". Is this true for you with all cell phone carriers?

Yes I started getting different rings for cell vs landlines about a week ago, also in houston. Also my old landline which I have a vacation hold on and it refers to my new mj # that will not work if I dial from mj,if I dial it from another landline or cell then it works fine also can not check cell voice from mj unless I use the softphone.

Happens on every cell I call - both in Houston and out of state (called my daughter's cell in Memphis with same ring). Does NOT happen when I call cells from my land line or my cell. This ring is something specific to MJ. Get traditional ring on MJ if I call a non-cell -- land line and/or 800 series number.
