Screech

Post by Tim Me »

Anyone getting loud screeching sounds in the middle of calls? I've had it happen a few times now and and just wondering if anyone is having the same issue.
It only happens maybe once a call but man is it loud.

I have had this problem for over ten months. Very annoying. I have spent hours and hours with tech chat which was a total waste of time. Apparently, there is no fix and no one at MJ has an answer.

They supplied me with two upgraded MJ's, but the screech problem persisted. As far as I'm concerned, there is no fix. You either accept the screech or dump MJ. I'm going to dump MJ and go with www.ooma.com. It initially costs more, but there aren't as many problems.

I talked to my brother last night. It happened again. He heard it but it wasn't loud on his end. Almost blew out an ear drum on my side.

Who is your ISP. Where do you live?

I turned the handset volume done from high to low. Didn't make any difference that I could tall regarding the volume of the call.
I talked to my brother for almost an hour and no screech sound.

I wonder if there is something in the handset that caused the problem

It's a Wired GE handset.

I will have to see if that stops the screeching completely or if it was just a coincedence.

With the volume cranked up, you prob were just getting 'feedback' which gave you the screech sound.....This is usually seen more with using a headset, but can also happen with the handheld phones as well.

MJ also tells you while you use a headset to turn down the volume for this reason.

I have had the same problem occasionally on different phones and different ISP's, and different routers.

I get this screech about 4 out of 5 times I answer the phone when someone call. It is so piercing I have to hold the phone away from my ear. I checked and already have the volume turned down on the handset, and still there. It lasts about 5-7 seconds, and stops, and then I can say hello and actually talk to the person calling. I have asked multiple people, and they do not hear it when calling in. Just a click, and dead air until i say hello.
It is becoming very annoying and I have tried several phones and another computer too with same result.
Live chat had no answers for me either.
Say must just be a glitch in the system.

Yeah, ooma is expensive though.
Not to mention you can't call Canada which makes it useless to me.
