I can usually make 1 or 2 phone calls at a time. Then, after I hang up and try to dial again, the magic jack soft pad just closes by itself. WHen I try to open the program, I get the dreaded warning. Then, I have to unplug from the usb, replug it in, then open the program again. (and of course wait for it to load).
Then, I get maybe one or two more calls in and the same problem repeats. However, often, after it loads, I hit the talk button and it closes immediately and I have to restart the magic jack program a 2nd or even 3rd time. I was told by Tech Support that I might have programs conflicting with Magic Jack. Even when all programs are closed and I even force close all I can in the task manager, this still happens.
What gives????
Dreaded Warning you must Plug Magic Jack into USB

Kind Of Phone
I'm using a Uniden cordless phone. So, you think I should get a corded phone instead? Does anybody else use a cordless phone with success?

Come to think of it, I had some issue with that. Found that I had to go back to using the short USB cable. If you are using the cable; take it off and see what happens.teyong wrote:Uniden 5.9 same here; works finelonestarmagic wrote:I'm using a Uniden dect 6.0 (cordless) no issues at all....has always worked since I installed my MJ

Problem Solved
I bought a $10 radio shack phone with caller ID. It is powered by the phone jack, and the caller ID is powered by 3 AAs.
I finally see the light. I use grandcentral.com for my primary business number. I can forward calls to the magic jack number. I have the bare minimum on the home phone with no caller ID. I used to forward business calls to my home and cellphone from Grand central because I needed caller ID.
Now, with my $10 phone, I have caller ID on the back of the receiver, and get all my business calls forwarded from Grand Central to my magic jack. I still forward to the home phone just in case I lose the connection. However, since I plugged in the new non cordless phone, I've had a perfect record with Magic Jack. This thing is genious!

Solved it by hacking a procedure together (posted here) which 'fixed' my device (for now), and might fix yours as well [http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/no-s ... t2228.html].
Hope this helps!

My Uniden EXA1978i cordless w/ans mach - works great! Being 900 MHz, it doesn't interefere w/WiFi link, either.bertdanger wrote:I'm using a Uniden cordless phone. So, you think I should get a corded phone instead? Does anybody else use a cordless phone with success?
I suspect the $10 corded phone draws less current (simulated line voltage) from mJ device. Have you tried a powered USB hub for the mJ in combo with cordless? Might be worth a shot if you have a powered hub available and want cordless capability (I couldn't live without it!).bertdanger wrote:since I plugged in the new non cordless phone, I've had a perfect record with Magic Jack.
I recently had exact same problem (among many others) with softphone dropping out for no apparent reason, before it absolutely refused to load - no matter what I did!bertdanger wrote:I can usually make 1 or 2 phone calls at a time.
