Sorry if this has been covered before. I searched about 15 pages and couldn't find this particular problem.
My MJ works perfectly when the computer is running. No complaints about the product itself. Very happy with it. My issue is that since installing MJ my computer now occasionally locks up or the operating system shuts down. I always left my computer running 24/7 prior to MJ and had no issues. The only change to my system and computer use was the install of MJ.
I have been using the computer only once when this problem occured. It froze my computer entirely. I could not utilize Cont/Alt/Del to access the task manager. Nothing, computer frozen. Normally this happens when I am asleep or at work and I find the screen to be black and cannot get the computer to function although the computer is powered up. Whenever this happens I have to powerdown and restart. All appears normal once restart occurs and MJ reinstalls.
I read some of the posts here and tried to address a few of the common issues prior to posting this. I defragged, scanned for spyware etc, deleted all cookies and temp internet files and reset parameters to delete them whenever logging out. This seemed to change the frequency in the amount of time that passed between shutdowns. Before it was nearly every day, now appears to be every other day or so. I am using XP and only utilize about 15% of my disc space. ( mainly used for internet and minimal usage ). The only think I have not tried is to unplug MJ and see if the problem occurs again.
Any suggestions are appreciated. I am not a computer expert so patience is appreciated. Thanks.
computer shutting down with MJ

Sounds like you have a pgm(s) that is eating up your CPU and/or memory causing your system to lock up. Are you running any kind of firewall pgm on your system? If so, try shutting it down for awhile and see if this prob continues. How much memory does your system have?
You could try directing your Performance to use add-on's vers programs. There is a write-up in one of these threads on how to do this.

Don't think I have a firewall installed. I have AVG Anti Virus and Spybot installed though.
My computer specs as far as I can see are this:
XP Home Service Pack 2
1.79 Ghz Processor
1.25 GB Ram
127 GB Disk ( 109GB free )
Computer is almost exclusively for email, internet usage and itunes. No big programs running that I am aware of. The system drops off when the computer is not being used so I am not sure of the CPU usage being the issue.
As for the Performance and add-on vers programs you listed. I have no idea what those are but could likely make changes in the system if I could find the how-to post.

I am having the same problem with the computer completely freezing up when left idle overnight, or all day. It's great when I'm using it, but inactivity seems to be a problem. I thought it may have something to do with the power management. I changed my settings, but that hasn't helped. I'm hoping someone else knows what's going on! I'd like to be able to leave it on when I leave for the day
