Cannot use MJ to call Canadian cell phone

Post by junkyman98 »

I have no problem using MJ until today that I discover MJ cannot call the Canadian cell phone #.

I try it on my cell phone and my wife's cell phone but both my cell phone did not right. But MJ has the dial tone and the call actually went through but my cell phone did not response at all.

I can use it on the land line no problem but no on the Canadian cell phone.

Can any one help please.

Thanks

Apparently the way to overcome this issue is to use *67+first digit of area code+*+rest of the number.

For example: if the phone number is 416-555-1212
you would then enter this number as follows: *674*16-555-1212

I have not tried this but others that have reported that it works for Canadian Cell Phone calls.

I have the same issue. Before I could call my Rogers Cell phone with MagicJack and it worked with no issues. For the past few weeks it stoped working.

Do what Mozerd says - the dial *67X*XX-XXX-XXXX - works - I am in Ontario and have a Virgin Mobile pay as you go phone - Can call to and from Some 800 numbers are not accessable from Canada but this works also for them - (the XXX-XXX-XXXX = your number with area code) - good luck happymajickjackin

Thank God for the Unofficial Magic Jack forum!!!!!

I was having a problem with calling the 807 824 XXXX exchange which is not a cell phone exchange ...I called magic jack canada 877 901-5225 and he in a dick sorta way said "i can't help you" "i can't help you"

then i found this site and rectified my intown calling issue with the *678* 07-824-xxxx and it works!! Definitely an issue with MJ network.

Thanks for the posts guys! :D

The * code doesn't seem to work anymore... at least when I try calling my Montreal cellphone numbers.

It works, but you can't dial a number directly by that method. It will fail since the last digit can't be dialed. You can click in the recent dialed numbers and then add the last digit, then hit send. It will then work.
