Will MJ work with XP PRO SP3?

Post by billinin »

Thinking of taking the plunge, but I have Windows XP Pro SP3. I have read several places here SP3 is a problem for MJ but no explanation as to why not.

I have XP Home with Internet Explorer 6 and Service Pack 3-I keep all the updates fresh and none has been any problem. Other things have ,like trying to share the bandwidth. Don't do big file downloads while using the phone. Use a real good phone and get a fast connection-the faster the better the audio and get Hawking Broadband Booster to direct traffic and get a clear signal. You might as well do it now so you don't come back saying the audio is not so good. Spend the 40 bucks now and get it done and over with. Getting used to the inferior sound quality takes a little time but with the booster it makes the voip phone as good as any landline. Providing you also have a fast connection.Thats what I finally figured after messing around for a year with the phone. It now comes in very clear.

I have XP on computers with SP3 as well as XP Pro version with SP3 and it does work with magicJack on my computers. I suggest you do a total backup of your computer just in case XP SP3 doesn't work on your system. I use True Image. I understand XP SP3 doesn't work in some systems with AMD, but does work with Intel in most systems.

I have SP3 on XP, and magicJack works fine.

Though, magicJack specifically said they will not work on SP3...

This is SOOOO lame of MJ people .. I do not knw about the rest of U'All
but if my computer slows dwn and I do not like whats going on , I
re-build it .. the ONLY update you can get for XP is SP3 from the MS
site .. seems like any other thing the MJ chat people can blam
something on they will .. gee and if u got auto updates turn on -
u got SP3 ..
way to stop this [ auto update ]

run - services.msc - go to the securty tab and put it to Maul.

I use my mJs on two different computers with SP3 and no problems. I'm not sure why they think there are problems.

Works fine for me on both XP Pro SP3 and Vista. Seemed to work better on XP than Vista, in fact.
