This update contained fixes for mic and speaker volume controls,it helps out with no audio device,no sound card,no windows drivers for the sound card, etc.

It saves internal settings between boots and seems to channel data more efficiently to the audio device.

Matt9876,

How did you find out what was included in the upgrade install?

Thanks.

Thanks for the info. Matt9876.

I also received the Lucky You message while booting up this morning.

I just changed my Microphone setting within MJ and then rebooted my PC.
The setting now stays as I set it.

I then called my office and left a voicemail to test the audio quality.
I could hear the voicemail automated assitant voice very clearly but
when I played back the message I left, it had crackling sounds going on
in the background. My tests before this upgrade were better than the
quality since the upgrade.

Any ideas?

My MJ was upgraded too. ZoneAlarm was asking me to allow a new version of magicjack.exe to access
the internet. I went searching for the version numbers but I found several different versions depending
on what directory I was looking at.
Application Data has mjusbsp as the MJ folder and withing that directory is MJ.exe 1.80.447.1 dated 6/12/08
The MJloader..exe program is 1.80.4411.3084 8/5.08

Is there a list of all the versions and where they reside?

Thanks,
Mick

I just found the upgrade directory under mjusbsp and it had upgrade2.exe 1.80.4471.3124 8/17/08

Bingo you found it, If you right click Magicjack.exe in the same directory and goto properties then version you will get 1.80.447.1

also note that the file size is 11.1 MB.

upgrade or degrade

Post by Cahsene »

IM not so sure that upgrade was a good thing. It actually knocked my sound out and I had to goto audio to restore the correct sound audio system. And secondly and more importantly My MJ stopped working today, I have had it since May 08. Im suspicious of that so-called upgrade, because now IM getting two error messages in RED a day later after upgrade.

below are error messages Im now getting:
1. "MJ must be plugged in to the USB port" (when actually its already plugged in).
2. "Storage Broken"

funny thing - I have a dial tone, but no service coming in, and can't dial out either. So I have no idea on what the hell has happened; but one things for sure and that is I got an upgrade yesterday and my MJ isn't working on the following day, hmmm - Strange to say the least! Im wondering Is this just my case alone?

I have to agree. Every time I get the "Lucky You" message, I fail to feel so lucky. Mine worked perfectly from day one and each upgrade either makes it better or makes it worse, depending on the dongle's mood.

Windows Vista and Laptop with XP SP2 on the road. Occasionally, a Mac if my Windows machine isn't working.

For me the past two upgrades fixed the volume controls and with careful tweaking I have almost eliminated any echo on the connection to a land line, Also incoming calls seem to work much better but always get a 1-2 calls on the weekend eve/nights that go directly to voice mail. :)
