audio issue/incoming/outgoing calls

Yes, so, its really weird, but, magicjack will only work when i have the set to the headset and all of the audio/voice/ringer is on the sound card, yet i can use my phone for calls??? Otherwise, if i set the microphone to my headset, call will dial, but as soon as it connects to a phone it will hang up, and incoming calls are the same. Same situation goes for having it set to telephone. I don't get it.

on a side note, my title doesn't really describe my problem but oh well. So, it turns out this problem isn't going away. I thought it might have been something to do with ether of my NIC controllers, but it turns out not. Also, have an update with the problem, the only way i can make or receive calls is to have it set to headset and have the mic/speaker/earpiece all set to my sound card, but keep my phone plugged in. So, it seems that this way works, but i can't dial using my phone, i can only dial using the softphone, and i can't turn my phone on until after i have dialed the number..... This is pretty dumb, but i'm thinking it is with the magicjack dongle itself. Ok, just happened, but it seems i can only make calls, when some one calls me, there is only static... (go figure with the way i have it set up right now)

well, tech support had me change the processor scheduling from programs to background services... Thats obviously not ideal, but it seemed to work, so i'm just going to see if i can have magic jack as an exception or something instead. As the way it is currently is a little bit ridiculous.

another update, that fix didn't work, it stopped working the next day, and i have no idea what they did. Sat with tech support for like 20 minutes while they were checking something on their end, then they had me restart my machine and didn't plug the dongle in until windows booted. That worked... until tonight... so back to tech support, i think i'm going to see if i can get it replaced. On a side note, i have dial tone, and i can still call out, sometimes get calls, its sporadic.

Had the same issue. The problem I encountered was due to router settings and/or Windows Firewall. The only way I could fix was to enable DMZ in my router config specifying my MJ machine and using Windows firewall specifying exemptions for majicjack ports 5060 & 5070 (both UDP) and I also had to exempt MediaServer.

This is my temp fix until I get my preset thin client from holmangt. I couldn't figure out the proper router settings, as router setup is fairly new to me.

Yeah, honestly, i'm not about to open up my routing like that, enabling DMZ isn't really an option and shouldn't be. That said, tired enabling those ports, and just turned off the firewall, and still a no go. I'm trying it on another machine, and if it doesn't work, then my unit it broken. I got tech support to agree to replace it if it didn't work.
