Internet dropping when MJ plugged in

Since I hooked up my magic jack a few days ago, my desktop is dropping my internet connection constantly. It will drop for 30 seconds to a minute then back on for 2-3 minutes (repeat). My laptop connection is fine, and as soon as i unplug the magic jack from the usb port on the desktop, my interenet connection is on and solid again. Running windowns vista 32bit, linksys wireless router wrt54g, brighthouse cable internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What phone are you using? A 2.4Ghz maybe?

i had that problem on a desktop. wireless usb and magicjack plugged in the same hub. Moved the magicjack to the USB jacks in back of the machine, and the wireless usb adapter to the front USB jacks and the problem disappeared.
looks like it was competing resources. it was a microsoft usb wireless adapter G.

using a hardwired phone. note for last comment, i'm now using a 2.4 Ghz on the same box with NO problems..
you might try moving the magicjack to another USB port, on your laptop, (mine has ports on the right and left)...
or switch to another machine..
