Continous dial tone when making call

Hi,

Here's my problem. When I pick up my phone, I get the usual dial tone. But then as I am typing the digits of the number I want to dial, the dial tone remains. And the digits aren't being processed to make the phone call. I've had MJ for a month and this hasn't happened till today.

The softphone does work, but it's a hassle to use it. I want to be able to make calls from my normal phones.

Here's what tech support told me to do
Nikki: Please go to control panel
Nikki: double click security center
Nikki: then double click windows firewall
Nikki: then select “exceptions” tab
Nikki: click on "add ports" button
Nikki: on "Name" type in MagicJack
Nikki: on "Port Number" type in 5060
Nikki: click the radio button below that reads "UDP"
Nikki: then click apply/ok
Nikki: then repeat the same procedure to add port 5070
Nikki: please do the steps above.

That didn't work. I've rebooted numerous times, upgraded MJ twice, and tried 5 or 6 different phones..don't know what else to do. Please help. Thanks in advance.

I feel your pain. This happens to me every once and a while and all I do is reset the magicjack. No need to reset the pc. I don't think its a phone issue. I think theirs a bug in MJ hardware/software. I would suggest asking for a replacement.
