Home Arrest

Post by nemfo »

Magicjack works great for the Home monitor machine, All I do is shutdown my computer and out I go. The cops that set it up loved the MagicJack, they said "WOW thats neat", as they hooked it up... THANKS DAN!
- Comcast Internet
- Using Vtech 5.8 CHEAP Cordless Phone
With a splitter for my Alarm system which works well
- With 100k Resister Modded DSL Filter cause it was laying around

OK, pardon my ignorance, but since I am a master criminal and never get caught doing all of the illegal stuff that I do, I am unaware of the finer points house arrest. Just how does turning your computer off help foil the monitoring device?

So, if you have a regular hard wire phone, you could just unplug it or leave it off the hook? Just curious.

I still don't understand. They chose not to use a cell backup (because you're not a hardended crminal). They used MJ, and you can turn off the computer? If they used a landline, what would prevent you from unplugging the phone or taking it off hook?

How is MJ different?

They (the parole department) order and request the phone line. You are very seldom allowed to use your own phone! Plus, they do random calls TO the monitoring device to check that it's alive. And finally, I am not certain, but I think the device is smart and will hold a "fax" to send it later when the phone comes back alive if it were disconnected for a while.

Nice try though! ;)

For those who are wondering ... an ankle bracelet for monitoring home parolees, is simply a receiver. The bracelet is a transmitter. If the receiver does not get a signal for more than a few seconds, it literally sends a fax to the local law enforcement department to notify them that someone in their area has violated their parole agreement.

Kewl! At least that mystery is solved. Makes sense when it's explained and/or you think it through.

Well, I still don't understand why switching off the MJs computer would be any different than unplugging a standard phone, but I'm not willing to get a bracelet just to find out :D Good luck nemfo.
