USB Warning- dropped call FIX

Post by bulljeanne »

Hello Everyone,

I found you guys after 2 weeks of live chat that never fixed the problems I was having. First it started with in and out going calls being put on hold all on it's own, then calls dropping off all together. Then the none stop reload that was enough to drive me batty. It did not matter if I had any other programs open, playing an on-line game or if the computer was just on, it would reload 20 to 30 times an hour...a real pain.
Well today I was able to talk with someone that seemed to be able to fix the problem...well if has been working fine for the last 3 or 4 hours now.

This is what they had me do that seems to have fixed the problem:

1. Right click on my computer and select manage- click "disk management".

2. On the right side you should see among other things 2 drives. one called "Magicjack" and the other is called either "phones" or "Vista Only". First right click on the one called "Magicjack" and then select "change drive letters and paths". In there select "Change" and then use the scrolldown menu to select "X". Click okay, you will get a pop up asking to confirm, click yes

3. Now do the same thing with the drive called "Phone" or "Vista Only". Name it "Y".

4. Now exit device manager and then unplug your magicjack and restart your computer and when you are up and running again, plug in your magicjack.

*note: this was said to enable my computer to detect a new renamed drives and will reinstall all magicjack files.

All I can say is it worked!! I hope this might help someone else.

Dropped Call Fix

Post by oakcreekcyn »

I did everything you mention in this post, IT WORKED!!!! I also followed the advice of two other posts and set the MagicJack to "AirCard" instead of "Normal-High Speed". I also went into the MSCONFIG utility, clicked on Startup, and unchecked all the programs that were NOT NEEDED AT STARTUP. It took some time as I had to google search each name and ask if it was needed on startup. Great education doing this. One or all of these may have been the problem, I don't know, but my MagicJack is back to working just as it did when I first bought it way back when it first came out. YEAH! I live beyond powerlines, phonelines and have no cell phone reception in the woods, so having this is a must. I have tried several 30 minute calls over the past two days with no problems. I did hear just one beep while I was on the phone, have no idea what that meant, but I can live with one beep, maybe it won't happen again.
