magicJack was unable to contact our registration server

Post by ppmaster »

I get this message everytime I launch MagicJack. The phone number also shows as zeros. I've been on the MJ chat line for almost 6 hours trying to resolve this and they have been no help. After they give up, they say that someone will email me (NOT). This started happening when an upgrade failed to install due to my antivirus. I've turned off the antivirus but now they upgrade or the launch of MJ gives me this error every time. HELP

I know it's an old topic, but since this thread shows up toward the top of a google search on the topic I figured I'd post the ONE solution that worked for me.

Make sure you don't have a proxy server interfering:

1)Open Control Panel (Start Menu - Control Panel)
2)Click Internet Options
3)Click CONNECTIONS tab
4)Click Lan Settings button
5)Make sure the box under the Proxy Server section is UNSELECTED
6)(Optional) SELECT Automatically Detect Settings

FYI: If you DO have a proxy server running on your home computer that you weren't aware of, that could potentially be a trojan, which would be another topic entirely.

Strange. It wasn't mentioned by the Shame Stream Media.... Oh yeah, he was a Republican.

Hey ignignokt, good for you for doing a search first. Too few search before bringing up a question or posting a topic. You get the Fickle Finger of Fate award this week.
