For the first month or so MJ worked well. Recently it has been unusable because the recipients of the calls say they can only hear every other word. I've tried rebooting the computer, router, andf modem to no avail. I've tried the fix on the website to increase allocated bandwidth, also no effect.
Any ideas?
Thanks

I'm not familiar with that fix. Can you explain it, or provide a link? (If it involved giving priority to *all* background processes I would undo that "fix." It's not helpful.).chiropharm wrote:I've tried the fix on the website to increase allocated bandwidth, also no effect.
Regarding your problem, it sounds like something changed. Did you install or upgrade any software on your computer? Especially anti-virus?
If you're using a phone connected to the MJ device, try using the softphone to see if it makes a difference. (Try a powered USB hub, but I don't think it will help since this problem started abruptly.).
See suggestions here. They should apply.http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/voic ... t3613.html

OK, So I was having this issue as well and tried the fixes above. I [reluctantly] contacted the MagicJack chat support thinking the worst, well, for me at least, it seemed to work. So here are the steps I took:
BTW, this is for Windows XP:
Go to Start - Run, then regedit and press enter.
Now click on + sign next to HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE.
Click on + sign next to SYSTEM
Click on + sign next to CurrentControlSet
Click on + sign next to Enum
Now find folder called USB. Right click on that and click on "Permissions". In permissions click on the check mark called "Allow" to the right of "Full Control".
Click Ok.
Now click on + sign next to USB and then find the two folders called "Vid1307", right click on one at a time and select delete. (I did not have these, but that's OK.)
Now click on - Sign next to USB.
Right click on Folder called USBSTOR and allow permissions.
Now click on + sign next to USBSTOR.
Find the folders called "CdRom&Ven_YMAX&Prod_MagicJack&Rev" and "Disk&Ven_YMAX&Prod_MagicJack&Rev"
Right click on those one at a time and delete them.
Now exit Regedit and then plug your magicJack in.
Make test call and if not better:
Right click on My Computer
Click Properties
Click the Advanced Tab
Under Performance, click Settings
Click the Advanced tab
Under Processor Scheduling, check the radio button called Background Services
Click Apply
Click OK
Click OK again.
Please restart your magicjack. MENU>ADVANCED USERS>RESTART
Hope this helps. Please post any other suggestions.

IMO, that's a bad suggestion. I think it's better to go into Task Manager, right click the magicjack.exe process, and give it High priority.fester113 wrote:Under Processor Scheduling, check the radio button called Background Services
The downside is that you have to do this each time you start MJ. But, the downside to dead chat's suggestion is that you're giving priority to *all* background processes. That's overkill. If your anti-virus and firewall are competing with MJ, they'll still compete with MJ. And, they'll have priority over your interactive processes.
