Magic Jack keeps losing connection

Post by idbl_fanatic »

Ok, so after about 24 hrs, I have to restart the MJ software, I have been able to make it 48 hrs but only 1-2 times, what happens is that I go to make a call, and there is no dial tone.

I have checked to make sure that the power management is turned off on the USB ports, updated the MJ software, The system is XP SP2 does not go to sleep or hibernate only shuts off the monitor.

Thanks

Not the response you want, I'm sure, but many of us use a scheduled job to reboot every night. It keeps MJ and XP running clean(er).

Not "necessary", and not "proper", but if it works...

I have that problem on one of my systems. I have attributed it to that particular system not being able to supply enough power to the Magic jack. On that system my magic jack would stop working after maybe 14hrs.. then I would have to unplug it and plug it back in. It works find on my other systems. Try a powered usb hub or a different system if you haven't already.

I think I may have fixed it, it has been running for 4 days now.........(knock on wood)

My network card was going to sleep

Under power management I had to turn it off.
