I've been trying to use other voip apps with mj and my iphone:
SIAX
RF.COM
a couple of others too, but fring is the only setup that works.
The fields are the same, but they don't dial out or I get an error.
what is fring doing that's allows it to work?
Anybody else running into this?
other info:
my iphone has the jailbroken.
I have my user/pw/proxy... from my MJ.
thanks.
Is Fring the only Iphone 3G compatible app for MJ?

Instructions
Hi passingthru, can you provide the step-by-step instruction when you set-up your fring using MJ account? I'm hoping you could include the steps in getting your SIP account as I'm still missing this and I'm assuming this is needed.
Thanks in advance!

As I understand MJ worked in your fring setup right? How did you enter the 20 char password into it. I can't enter mine. Fring has 18 char password length limit IMO.passingthru wrote:I've been trying to use other voip apps with mj and my iphone:

I have a 20 character pw and didn't have any problems.
I can't get to the SIP settings on fring right now. If I do, it asks me to confirm I want to delete my settings. It was straightforward. I selected the SIP addin, entered the proxy server, user id and password. It was about as straightforward as it gets. sorry I don't have screen prints.

btw, I tried to work with the guys from SIAX (sending screen shots and logs). by the time they made the changes I needed, the temp license expired. They wouldn't reset it or do anything to resolve other than ask me to pay for it so I dropped it. I never could get it to work. They added proxy support in the last week so you might want to try it if you have a jailbroken phone. you can get via cydia. They have a lot of options for both SIP and IAX. they recommended I setup a stun server, but I'm not that savvy nor did I need one with Fring.
P.S. I don't mind paying for a good app (i.e. Fring is one I'd pay for), but I'm not paying for one that doesn't work.

Sorry I forgot to mention, I am using Nokia N95. It seems Fring on Symbian has this problem (18 char password limit). I hope they would fix that soon.passingthru wrote:I have a 20 character pw and didn't have any problems.
