Plugging MJ into the existing phone wiring.

Post by jadkins45 »

With one phone connected to my MJ it works fine I then connected two phones to the MJ through a splitter (Y connector) and they both worked fine. As soon as I connected all the phones in my house through the house wiring only one phone rings the closest phone to the MJ.

I have appr. 8 phones connected to my house wiring and one fax. The fax doesn't pick-up unless I press the receive button but the phone on the fax is active.

P.S. All the phones in the house require a power supply to work but I did have two non-powered phones that I disconnected, until I disconnected the non-powered phones nothing would work.

You could try a ring booster:

I haven't tried any of these ring boosters but plan to someday. If you get one, please let us know how well it works.

You may want to get on a laptop and try a different port in your house. I have had 10 phones running w/o a booster around my whole house... Also, did you have a landline before? Is the wire coming into the house disconnected. If it isnt then that could be the problem. Finally, what kinda of USB port are you using? Are you using ports built into the computer or a hub? Did you try other ports? All these questions may seem a little stupid, but buying a booster isnt the solution for everything. But, that is just my 2 pennys :D
