Voicemail

Post by fatal »

Hello,

When I hit the Vmail button is it supposed to go directly to your voicemail or is it supposed to call you?

When i hit the vmail button i get an incoming call and it says accept or ignore.

If I hit accept it puts me on hold. I guess im on hold with myself. If i hit ignore it goes to my VM.

Does that sound right? should it not just go directly into the voicemail system?

It goes to voicemail for me. Then I press * and enter my password.

This might be a safe problem to run by dead chat. I don't think they'd have any reason to put you through 2 hours of scripted solutions.

dead chat? what is that? i did try chatting on the website but it doesn't seem like they can help much. They just said they will speak to their engineers. Right im sure they will...

I have a feeling its something like instead of the # being forwarded to VM its setup to forward back to my own number... but i have no idea if there is some place i can reset everything. They already reset my VM but it did not help.

Any help is appreciated. thanks.

In case anyone else has this issue.

Support will not be able to help you. The problem seems to be the number was not properly provisioned and when you check your voice mail the system does not recognize you are calling in from your own number, it then tries to route the call (back to you).

I changed my number and now all is well.

I assume you understand now why I referred to them as dead chat (instead of live chat).

Some of them are ok. People have reported success by just cutting their losses when they are talking to someone who doesn't have a clue, and try again later. After 4-5 tries you're likely to get one of the better ones. (Or, someone will realize you're going to keep trying, and will be more careful how they help you. I think they have records of your requests.).

Others have said that you can request (insist, demand) to be escalated. You'll go to a supervisor who has the ability to escalate to a higher level of engineering(?).

If it were me, if I were escalated to a supervisor and felt I wasn't getting the attention I need, I'd just ask them if they prefer that I email the founder of the company and inform the founder I was told by {fill in the name of the supervisor} to take that route because I couldn't be helped. That should motivate them.

I too, have Voicemail problems. Mine will ring a partial time and then disconnect immediately. If I try to press the * key, I get a voice that says something like "You have reached the Ymax test number. Test successful." Tech support (if you can call it that) was no help. They had me changing drive designations and reinstalling the Java I had recently installed.

It seems like everyone has a different problem, too. No rhyme or reason to it. A second problem I have with voicemail is when a friend or family tries to call me and it rings 4 times and hangs up without going to voicemail at all. It all worked fine for a few weeks to a month. I wonder what will go next.
