one more question what happen if your current majic jack die before your 5 years of the service will they transfer my service to my new majic jack dongle or not? or will i loose all the years i have left from the old one so how is it work?

I think it's a gamble. $12 a year looks like a good gamble. But, VOIP companies have a history of not lasting long. And, this particular one is developing a history of self-destructive practices (like it isn't even trying to last long).

I bought 4 additional years when I purchased mine. If I had it to do over, based upon what I know now, I might do $20 a year. The difference is something like $0.70 per month.

You should open a chat session with MJ support and ask them if you can transfer your time if 1) the unit dies before the end of 5-6 years, or 2) they come out with a newer hardware revision and you want to buy a new unit.

If they say you can, ask how you should conduct that transaction. If there are any special steps you must follow, such as contacting them before registering the new unit.

And then print out that chat session and keep it. It might help you 3 years from now when you spend countless hours with support chat, trying to prove someone told you it was possible.

But, when you're only talking about $0.70 per month, is it worth all the potential drama?

To me, this gets back to Dan's disregard for his business practices, as if people will just take whatever arbitrary or vague answers they receive. He's hurting himself because customers have to ask stupid questions like yours. These issues should already be resolved, institutionalized, and no concern about losing unused time.

Instead, you have to worry about printing out chat sessions to protect yourself (because of all the nonsense you've seen others go through). That's going to cost you $0.70 right there (electricity to start the printer, paper, toner). Just because of all the drama you know you're inviting into your life.

FYI: On another forum someone described how he's trying to get a defective unit replaced. (Getting the runaround others have reported. Told to expect a replacement. Then nothing. Contacts them again. Told there's no record of a replacement being ordered.).

Anyway, he was told that they can transfer his existing number to the replacement. But, he should contact support *before* registering it.

I think I've seen this stressed by someone else. I haven't heard anyone say they could transfer their time. But, if it's possible to do, it's probably tied to your original phone number, and the importance of getting it switched before registering would apply to that too.

thanks for your advice az 2008 i already talked to the live chat but i still dont trust them at all cause they will say anything to get you to buy more time from them and then you will get stuck with it latter if you get problem down the road, that why i want to get more opinion and input from your guys who had been experience with this company.

I agree with AZ. Those who had sunrocket know that even a 200 dollar per year company didnt last that long. Unless MJ raises there prices or starts to set limits, it feels as though they will be driven out of the VOIP spectrum. Thankfully Dan is rich!
