links on this forum not working

Post by astro46 »

i did a search, and when clicking on a number of the results, all i get is a page saying "not acceptable" with explanation of how the link doesn't go anywhere, and 404 also returned.

can this be fixed?

No, because links on the Internet change.

Once the target has been deleted, there is nothing that can be done.

Oh, the link itself could be disabled and flagged "no longer valid", but that would not improve anything. Sometimes it helps to see what the link was, so you can narrow your future searching.

Ah, I thought you meant that in reading the posts it showed as a result of your search that links within the posts were no longer active.

No idea what can be done if the search links themselves are bad. Sorry.

they may have been deleted... OR there could have been an issue while moving hosts... what thread are you reffering to?

i didn't write down the names of each thread. i did a search on echo. clicked on a number of results with echo in the subject. all failed. on, that had several pages, did work if i clicked on a page, but clicking on the subject failed.

Oh your right...

I searched echo and got this

Admin may know something about this? It looks as though the permissions are screwed in the backend, some DB issue, or a messy transfer....

That was the problem. It looks like there is a problem with the mod rewrite.
As a workaround, I just removed the "?highlight=" from the search results.
Please try searching again.

Special thanks to astro46 for actually attempting to search the forum!
