Try to find a copy of the TJ echo-canceling software. It used to be readily available, but was pulled when the publisher started incorporating the technology into chipsets.

The name of the file you want to find is:

TJNetLec_v1.msi

It took me a bit, but I was able to find it some 6 months ago. I'm sure it's still out there.

(And, before you ask, sorry, I can't send it to you -- it's a violation of copyright law and I'm an intellectual property lawyer. I'm held to a high standard as a matter of law and just can't do it.)

Once the TJ software has been installed, reboot your computer and then plug-in your MJ. After the MJ starts, right-click on the TJ icon in the system tray and select, "enable." That's all you need to do. From then on, whenever you start the MJ, the TJ will detect it and start running. You'll be able to tell because the TJ icon in the system tray will turn green.

I found I get more echo when my mic volume is turned up too high. I use a headset, not speakers. (So, it's not feedback between the mic and speakers.). It seems like the volume of audio I send out can trigger it.

I go into the softphone's menu, and lower the handset/volume control to 50% (for the microphone). I don't know if that volume control applies to handsets. I haven't used one.

It works fine on my Vista Business-equipped laptop. I've also found it to be pretty effective, particularly when traveling internationally.

Amazing - they fix one area and introduce the problem in another. I had BAD echo between calls in the 718 area code. *67 was the ONLY thing that solved the problem. As of a few weeks ago I could dial the number w/o *67 and there is no echo (although a few callers have complained that they hear echo on their end). So, for right now I have no echo and am not using the TJ software (which like I said previously did nothing for me) or *67 (which did fix the problem but introduced a slight delay).
