desktop pc not detecting mj...

Post by mia »

Hello,
I have recently purchased magicjack for my desktop pc.
Firstly, my pc is not detecting the mj device.
The light is blinking on mj.
I have plugged directly it into front usb port of my pc.
How to install the mj then ??
Pls help me out to solve..
Is there anyway that i can see that mj is detected or not...??
when i tried to upgrade the magic jack then it said that mj is not plugged into usb though it's plugged...

thanxss

Note :
Other devices work well into the same usb ports...

I would try it on another computer to make sure you don't have a bad MJ unit. If the light remains constant on another computer, then it could be low power to your USB port (try another port, try a hub).

i have tried on hub..
the light remains constant but it does not gives me the startup screen...that computer could detect mj as the new device.

is there anyway to know the power of usb port ..??

Probably, but I don't know how. For a hub, the power rating of the AC adapter would give a good idea (relative to how many devices share the hub).

I haven't installed MJ in a long time. I've forgotten how it works. But, I think if you have "autorun" disabled in Windows, that would prevent MJ from automatically starting and installing. You'd have to click on one of the drives that appears after inserting the MJ device.

I have autorun disabled. I have to click the icon on my desktop to make an already-installed MJ run. I don't remember how I installed it through.
