New update disabled local magicjack

Post by kcleduc »

MagicJack did an update this morning, now I can no longer run magicjack on local PC, it is forcing me to plug it in the usb port, Even if cdloader2 is dsialbe (msconfig), and cdloader not in startup.

I think I had the same problem. My dongeless had an error 401 this morning. Running from the dongle caused it to work. I wasn't sure if the proxy was down and MJ requires the normal startup to locate other proxies. I was going to wait until tonight or tomorrow to investigate, go through the dongleless steps again, etc.

Something seemed to happen late Dec. 28 to early Dec. 29. My dongleless got a 401 error in the morning Dec. 29. I've run with the Dongle since them. But tonight (the 30th) I followed the dongleless instructions[1] again and it works.

So, some kind of upgrade occured. But, my version numbers[2] are the same. It seems like MJ can push configuration changes without a complete upgrade. Like, how they stopped using hostnames a couple months ago. It just changed to IP addresses without a formal upgrade.

I guess small things like this can break the dongleless operation.
