I may just give up on my Linksys Wireless-G Cable Gateway model WCG200.
Which regular router works for everyone? Which would you recommend?
I do like Linksys but can go with just about anything. How about Netgear?
I am just plain wore out over this wireless dropping of calls. I do need wireless though.
So please recommend a router that WILL WORK. Please .
Thanks
Tim

It depends on what you're trying to accomplish. If you're existing problem is due to wireless interference, a new wireless router isn't going to fix that. You'd have to resolve the interference problem as recommended to you in another thread. Or, connect using a wire.Tims75 wrote:So please recommend a router that WILL WORK. Please .
If you want QoS features to reduce "choppy voice" then this will limit which routers you should purchase. This shows which routers are used with Tomato, and how popular they are: http://www.linksysinfo.org/forums/showt ... hp?t=50990
If you want even more features, then you'd be concerned with which routers are supported by DD-WRT.
In either of those cases, I'd suggest you take your questions to their respective forums.
There's no way for anyone to say what is "the best router" without knowing what your needs are. And, you haven't said why you feel you need a new one.

Another good option if you have a spare PC or old laptop is monowall. Been running it for years now and upgraded its hardware to a T5700 HP thin client last year. Now I have a very powerful router (1GHz, 256MB Flash that can be upgraded and 512mb RAM).
If you go this route and want wireless, I would suggest you connect the router of your choice w/wireless and set it up as an access point.

I recommend Wrt54g or GL hands down no matter what. If you want to run it on stock I think it runs excellent or like AZ was saying you can go with an open source software like dd-wrt or tomato with them. I would stay away from netgears lower end models and all your unbranded ones. Your issue could also be your wireless card. I recommend wiring up to your thin client. It will have its initial cost, but in the end you will save a lot of hassle.
But thats my 2 cents
