lost contact list, dropped calls and repeated request for

help please
have had mj for over a year with no major problems. (only choppy calls now and then) but overall works great for us

now:
when computer rebooted and mj came up my entire list of contact name and phone numbers were gone, asked for login and password and now have annoying dropped calls ( actually line goes dead on both ends but many times timer still running as if call still connected) happens both incoming and outgoing, can be after 3 seconds, 3 to 9 minutes...
the request for login and password comes up anytime rebooted
mj is on desktop with windows xp and plugged directly into computer
(gonna try plugging into powered hub as suggested in another post)
just dont understand what has caused this sudden problems when no issues before.
