restarting computer
I am brand new to majicJack, but am deterimined to make it work. I have figured out lots of the "rules" that majicJack did not bother to "publish" as far as the use of the phone, but I continue to have to re-start my computer. I have a nice Dell that is less than a year old and I have no other problems with it, but I'm willing to consider that it is the computer. When I do restart the computer and am able to make calls in and out the sound quality of the call is fabulous, crystal clear! I want this to work. Any suggestions as to what to check on the computer? I've done the tech support stuff with the company so I'm certain that I don't need an update...we've removed some files and done some other probably needless stuff...still, after several hours I end up not being able to call in or out without restarting the computer.
If it is a restart problem and not a resume from standby or hibernation, my work around thought would be to unplug MJ before the restart and only plug it in when all the drivers are up and running.
I have a two year old Dells (both notebook and desktop) and have no troubles similar to what you describe. But I do, indeed, unplug MJ before startup.

I will definitely not restart with MJ plugged in. Thanks for that tip.
I'm not actually sure that the computer is frozen....it's more like the majicJack is frozen.
How do I keep the computer from "hibernating" or "sleeping" since it must be on for the Jack to work?

Re: restarting computer
My system will not hibernate or sleep with MJ plugged in and running. However the screen saver will work.eloisepmason wrote:I will definitely not restart with MJ plugged in. Thanks for that tip.

But to disable hibernate or sleet or to set sleep or hibernate times for XPSP3
1. right click on a blank area of the screen
2. left click properties
4. left click the screen saver tab
5. left click the power button under Monitor Power
6. left click the hibernate tab
7. check (left click) or uncheck the Enable Hibernate box
8. left click on the Power Schemes tab
9. choose (left click) your desired times in the various drop down menus.
10. click OK

I have changed all settings to "never" on both the hibernate and standby tabs of power options ....maybe this is the fix. Thanks so much.
