incoming calls

Post by brownsfan »

Hi I just purchased a mj and everything seems to be working fine except for when my Father tries calling me he gets a error message from his cell's (tmobile and nextel) but if he calls from home it works fine. is there a fix for this? I tried mj support but all I got was the special ed students.

I had the same issue when I installed my MJ with a Verizon cell calling my MJ from California. My MJ is in Indiana. I waited about a week and the calls started going through and have been ever since September 2008. I think it has something to do with new exchange number discovery for telephone routing. I don't think there is anything you can do except wait and see if the problem clears.

HAHAHA. Nice one.

I believe that is a call routing issue or something like that.
It's either a problem with magicjack's network or his cell phone company.
I would contact them both about the problem and have it escalated to their engineers.
Chances are it will be fixed by one of the companies.
When contacting the cell phone company, i suggest you say it's a landline with YMAX Communications (don't mention it's VOIP).
Otherwise, I am sure you know what they will be blaming this on.
Also, eventually MJ tech support will have someone who will know what they are doing,
and if you don't want to wait you can always email Dan the inventor.
Be prepared for each company to point to the other.

I had this exact problem, and I did this.
It was fixed the next day.

The North American telephone network continues to expand at an amazing pace. Every week, hundreds of MACs (Moves, Adds, Change orders) are generated by the various telephone companies as they add new thousands groups to their inventories and turn them live.

Unfortunately, there is a delay between the time that a phone company is assigned an exchange or a thousands group and the time they turn it live. Also, the phone company must decide what switch to assign the group to and then publish the routing codes, rating codes (billing), etc., for other phone companies to know. This is all done manually, and each phone company must individually process each MAC for inclusion in the network.

As you have discovered, ILECs (Incumbent Local Exchange Carriers, like Verizon and AT&T) are more efficient at processing these MACs than are less organized companies like Sprint and T-Mobile. I have discovered that the best way to get a forgotten MAC implemented is to call the originating company (Nextel, T-Mobile) and tell them that you cannot call this particular exchange, and that you know that it belongs to YMAX in xxx Rate Center (the city name that would show up on a phone bill).

Good luck.

Verizon routes MJ calls through a switch that gets easily overloaded so about half the calls get the try your call again message.

At some level this just isn't right and should be corrected.
