Disabling cable phone service to test mj

Post by M76L55H »

MJ cust serv says I can use one mj to run all my existing phones simply by connecting computer to mj and mj to telephone wall jack. Is this true? And, if it is true, I presently have phone service via my broadband provider, Charter Communications. How can I test mj without completely cancelling my existing service? I don't want to fully cancel it until I decide that mj is a suitable substitute. Cust serv didn't understand the question, so I got nothing useful out of them on this question. Thanks.

Just unplug your current phone company. You should find a plastic box outside. Once you open it up you should see the plug to unhook. If there are two plugs I would unhook both of them. This would disconnect the phone company from your home wiring. Then connect the MJ to your inside phone jack.

if you have charter digital phone, just disconnect the modem from the phone plug in the wall, there is no need to go outside. Then hook you magic jack up to the same outlet the modem was plugged into. Then take a phone and forward your charter number to your magic jack and you are already to give it a test run.
