Help?MagicJack: very bad sound quality on Mac osx 10.5?

Post by Xplorer »

Great idea if it would work.
MJ Tech help is useless. 3 hours with 6 different techs.
Sound on my end is perfect. Sound on the other end is worthless.
I am using the built in microphone ... which has always worked perfectly for online video chat on international calls. with MJ The mic picks up the tiniest background noise but my voice is garbled and lots of static. I have comcast cable. Is there a voip / test / free download to help troubleshoot.
Any ideas??

See the wiki FAQ for "choppy/garbled" voice. It could be you need QOS, or change to a different proxy.

Im not that technically oriented ... can you please explain/ define QOS and what a proxy is and how I can change it?

choppy voice on mac

I have no technical knowledge but I searched tons of forums for the same problem--I tried a few different things but what really worked for me was
applications
utilities
task manager
then killing most active task except for the essentials--apparently I had a lot of background stuff going(most on my dashboard with wigets) I think they were sucking up the bandwidth(again no tech knowledge). Anyway when I killed my clock/hotspot locator and a few other apps I got crystal clear voice on my mj. I was even able to use the phone with my wireless dsl hook up. good luck
