my MJ had been working acceptably.. Now, however, if it is plugged into a USB when I start my minimac, the computer won't start. When I start my mini and then plub in the MJ the mac dies. Doesn't appear to be any damage to the Mac because it will then start w/o the MJ.
Any ideas? Is there any replacement policy for MJ's ... ?
thanks from North Carolina.....

Thanks for your reply. Subsequent to your suggestion, I did try plugging it into my USB Powered hub ... but the hub is 1.0 and the MJ sat there and no blue light.
So I tried putting it into the #1 USB 2.0 on the MM and no blue light and after a few seconds the MM shut down. Again, thankfully, no damage to the MM.
So my guess is that it's fried for some reason. Is there any way to replace it, or will I have to purchase another one, do you think? And who would I contact?
Anyway, thanks for your help and time. Really appreciate it.

Being a Mac person I'd say there are a couple of possibilities.
First, unplug all USB devices except the keyboard and the mouse (the mouse should be plugged into the keyboard. If you have a non-apple Keyboard/mouse, especially a PS/2 keyboard using a ps/2 to usb converter, unplug the keyboard completely once your mini is up and running and just plug in the mouse. Then, plug in the MJ. If it still takes down the mini, it's either the MJ or the USB controller in the mini.
Had problems recently with a mini I have here at home where it turned out that the printer was actually causing the machine to crash when there were too many other USB devices connected.. High power USB devices can be nasty that way.
As suggested, a powered USB 2 hub could solve all your problems.
